• Sant Felip Neri

Sant Felip Neri is without a doubt one of the most charming squares in Barcelona. Despite being in the heart of the Gothic quarter in the popular district of El Call, the square is a veritable haven of peace that often goes completely unnoticed by most visitors. Surrounding it we find the Church of Sant Felip Neri and the Renaissance houses of the boilermakers’ guild, now a school, as well as the shoemakers’ guild, currently a footwear museum. In the centre, you’ll find a fountain with an octagonal base, and on the walls of the church today you can see the damage inflicted on the stone walls by the impact of an aerial weapon dropped in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. These are the marks left by a bombing attack that took the lives of 42 people.
